Recently, it has been studies that somatic mutation in exon 9 of the CALR is observed and is frequent in numerous cancers, such as leukemias, myeloproliferative neoplasms, colorectal cancer, etc. CALR mutation is also considered as a potential diagnostic marker in thrombocythemia (ET) and primary myelofibrosis (PMF).
